The article "Why don't young people vote" by Hannah Esaili talks about how the newest generation of voters are simply choosing not to vote, or rather ignoring the ability to use a vote. Generation Y is worrying more with atrocities around the world as opposed to the ones at home and taking things like taxes and other forms of government as a way of life that can't be changed. Generation Y as a whole are lazy and not using their right to vote despite sixty six percent of people saying the government is inefficient. The new generation is not focusing on politics but rather issues like racism, sexism, and other forms of discrimination, but the young voters aren't looking to the government to change that since it has been stable for so long.
Question: I do see a bit of myself in the targets that the writer was hoping to persuade to use their vote.I turned 18 5 months ago and still have not registered to vote. I do feel like that the author is correct that many of the new generation are focusing on getting lawmakers to change laws toward races, genders, and other social issues rather than voting in people that will. And, on top of that many people here in the USA are happy with the current way of living and don't care enough to change anything about it. So these people just don't even bother voting at all.
